I’m a rare Piedmontese grape, brought to life in 1938 by the brilliant Professor Dalmasso!
You’ll find my black-skinned grapes in Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo provinces. I’m a cross between Barbera and Nebbiolo di Dronero (also called Chatus). Some even call me “Dalmasso XV/31”. “Tenuta Cannona” in Carpeneto, a viticulture and enology research center in Monferrato, tested 40 of Dalmasso’s crossings before finally welcoming me, Albarossa!
Let me introduce myself: My berries? Black-blue. My bunch? Small and compact.
Where do I thrive? I grow best in Piedmont but you can also spot me in Liguria.
Here I give my best: in the Monferrato. Acqui Terme, Nizza and Canelli wine zones and the Local Area Development Centre of Turin!

Where do I shine?3 DOC and 3 IGT.
My signature wine
Piemonte Albarossa DOC.
Did you know? Albarossa means ‘Red Dawn’ in Italian. A name that reflects its vibrant color and bright personality.
