I’m the most widespread white grape in Monferrato.
Pleased to meet you! As my name suggests, I’m as courteous as I am delicious.
I’m incredibly versatile, it all depends on the vineyard location, the area, the soil, and the winemaker’s style.
Let me introduce myself: My grapes are golden yellow to greenish yellow.
Where do I thrive? I thrive in the Monferrato area, especially in Alto Monferrato, but you can also find me in other Italian regions all over Piedmont and in other Italian regions such as Veneto and Oltrepò Pavese.
Here I give my best: My finest expression comes from the Gavi wine district. Gavi is a delightful and picturesque village nestled between Piedmont and Liguria. Here, the houses are built in Genoese style, the restaurants serve Ligurian cuisine, and the sea breeze reaches all the way here, adding its charm.

Where do I shine? 1 DOCG,
6 DOC,
31 IGT.
My signature wine
Gavi DOCG, Cortese Alto Monferrato, Piemonte Cortese.
Did you know? In the past, my grapes were popular as dessert grapes, but now I’m vinified either 100% or blended with other varieties. Nowadays, in London, Gavi is all the rage!
