Put one leg in Calosso to taste my rare peppery charm. You won’t find me abroad!
In Italian, Gamba Rossa means “Red Leg” and my name comes from the reddish color of my stem, which looks like a partridge’s leg. Rare and unique, I’m waiting for you in the village of Calosso or somewhere nearby, to taste my peppery and spicy notes. They used to call me “Gamba di Pernice”, “Pernicine” or even “Empress of Gamba Rossa” as pernice in italian means partridge.
Let me introduce myself: my berries are medium to large, bluish in color, with a powdery skin.
Where do I thrive: in Piedmont, particularly across the Monferrato and the Langhe.
Here I give my best: around the little village of Calosso near Asti, which is my favorite spot!

Where do I shine?
1 DOC.
My signature wine
Calosso DOC.
Did you know? I’m incredibly versatile: sometimes still, sometimes sparkling. I can be sweet or dry, young or aged.
My wines are fruity and jammy, with spicy and balsamic notes, hints of green pepper, and a stunning mineral finish. Full-bodied with firm tannins!
