I may have a pale color, but don’t underestimate me: I’m bold in character!
With firm tannins and a unique personality, I’m both elegant and full of spunk, living up to my reputation as an “Anarchist and Madcap,” as said by Luigi Veronelli, one of the most famous and beloved journalists and wine writers in Italy.
Let me introduce myself: My berries are small, bluish-black, and unique with three seeds, unlike most other grapes that have only two.
Where do I thrive? Piedmont, particularly in Monferrato and Langhe areas.
Here I give my best: in the Asti zone and the Monferrato Casalese area.

Where do I shine? You can find me in 6 DOC.
My signature wine
Grignolino d’Asti DOC, Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese DOC.
Did you know? I’m an ancient grape variety that used to be called “Barbesino.”
My wines are light in color, often labeled as “easy to drink,” but don’t be fooled. I can age beautifully too!
