I am so elegant, I’m Piedmont’s pride, the grape behind the king of wines and the wine of kings!
The world-famous Barolo and Barbaresco owe their greatness to me. Every winemaker has their own style: some prefer long macerations, others big barrels or barriques. Some focus on power, others on elegance. I’m like a canvas, ready to be transformed into some of the world’s greatest wines.
Let me introduce myself: my berries are dark violet with a thick bloom, giving me a “foggy” look.
Where do I thrive? You can find me in Piedmont, but also in Lombard, Aosta Valley, Sardinia and all over Italy.
Here I give my best: The Langhe, the Roero, Northern Piedmont, and Valtellina areas.
Where do I shine? You can find me in 7 DOCG, 22 DOC, and 36 IGT wines.
