Rich in history, loved by friars, and full of flavor. You can call me ‘Cari,’ which means ‘Dear’ in Italian.
I’m Pelaverga Grosso, a historic grape variety known since the 8th century. My wines were so appreciated that even the friars in the town of Pagno favored me. In Chieri, they call me “Cari,” and in Canavese, I’m known as “Peilavert.”
Let me introduce myself: my berries are large, with a thick skin covered in a fine, powdery bloom. My clusters are big too!
Where do I thrive? In Piedmont, particularly in Saluzzo, Chieri, and Canavese.
Here I give my best: the Saluzzo area is where I truly shine.

Where do I shine? You can find me in 2 DOC wines.
My signature wine
Collina Torinese DOC and Colline Saluzzesi DOC.
Did you know? I’ve been known since the 8th century, when the friars of Pagno greatly appreciated my wines.
My wines have a delicate ruby-red color with intriguing aromas of wild berries!
