Small in size, big in personality, this grape is truly one of a kind!
My name, Pelaverga, may come from the Latin ‘pellis virga,’ which refers to an ancient technique used to help my grapes ripen. It involved partially peeling the branches of the vine. How fascinating is that? Rediscovered and brought back to fame by the village of Verduno.
Let me introduce myself: My berries are small, round or elliptical, with a medium-thick skin, violet hues, and a fine, powdery bloom. My clusters are conical or elongated pyramid-shaped.
Where do I thrive? In Piedmont, especially in the Langhe.
Here I give my best: the village of Verduno (Cuneo) is where I was rediscovered and brought back to life.

Where do I shine? You can find me in 1 DOC wine.
My signature wine
Verduno Pelaverga DOC, also known as Verduno DOC.
Did you know? I’m called Pelaverga Piccolo or Pelaverga di Verduno. Don’t mix me up with Pelaverga Grosso, which is a completely different grape!
